OUR HISTORY
Dunbar Day Centre has a long history of providing support to the elderly in the community. The centre was first opened in 1976, making it the oldest day centres in East Lothian. This was largely due to the efforts of Molly Keith who saw the need for more support for the elderly in the Dunbar area.
We are part of the Association for East Lothian Day Centres which compromises of nine day centres. The building the Day Centre runs from was once the Registry office for the town.
The Day Centre was previously run as more of a lunch club and members who attended also went on holidays. We registered with the Care Inspectorate in 2015 and this started the format we run with now.
In 2020, after the effects of COVID, we started the Community Outreach service.
